WildwoodPaintingEst. 2013

It started with four friends and a summer job.

Before there was a crew, a logo, or a single finished house, there were four friends home from college with a summer to fill. Here’s how Wildwood got from there to here.

2013

Four friends and one idea

Wildwood Painting started with four college friends home in Strongsville for our first summer break. A few shifts at Dunkin’ Donuts, Wendy’s, and Robeks were enough to convince us there had to be a better way to make a little extra money and still enjoy the summer.

So we decided to start painting.

We named the company after Wildwood, the Strongsville street where the idea came together. That first summer was handing out flyers, quoting jobs, and learning the painting business one house at a time.

Then things got serious

The next summer, Wildwood landed its first major project: painting the four Courts of Berea, 64 units in all.

It was much bigger than anything we’d taken on before, so we hired a crew and got to work. That project is when Wildwood really took off, and went from a summer idea between four friends to a real painting company.

Later

The years that followed

We kept Wildwood running: painting homes, hiring crews, and taking on projects throughout the area.

Eventually, our professional careers started taking us in different directions. But we never completely walked away from Wildwood.

Today

Wildwood works differently today. Both of us have careers outside of painting, and we keep Wildwood going on the side because we genuinely enjoy the work.

That means we’re not trying to keep a large crew busy or send employees from house to house. We can be selective about the projects we take on, and give each one the time to do it the way we believe it should be done.

When you hire Wildwood, you’re hiring the owners. One or both of us does the painting, so the person who gives you the estimate is the person on the ladder. From preparation through painting and the final walkthrough, you work directly with the people who own the company.

  • Brush and roller.
  • Thorough preparation.
  • Sherwin-Williams products.
  • And the owners doing the work.

P.S.

Notes we’ve kept

A couple of handwritten notes from customers in Wildwood’s early years. We’ve held on to them. (Names left off for their privacy.)

Handwritten note: Dear Wildwood Painters, thank you so much for a very fine job! Your willingness to see to everyone’s needs was appreciated. We hope that you have a wonderful rest of the summer.
